Up in the air – charmingly honest

A film by Jason Reitman From the director Oscar nominated director who gave us the award winning Juno(2007) and thank you for smoking(2005) comes yet another movie which rides high on the story and the festival circuit too ! Plotline: The story  can aptly be called as a character as it study revolves around  Ryan Brigham  (George Clooney) a man who flies off to different places to fire people . Ryan spends most of the year flying and has a number in mind that he hasn’t  hit . he goes to companies just to fire them and seems to enjoy his work not until co-worker Natalie Keener (Anna Kendrick) comes up with a new method of firing people so that everyone gets to go home after the work is done. Well for Ryan it is ragingly uncomfortable as he never likes to be alone back in his place. He flies off to his sister’s wedding along with his date Alex (Vera Faminga) and falls for her. Clooney has handled the role of a Ryan with such poignancy that at times you may feel sorry for the character. When Clooney comes to know that Alex has a family and when he is put on road again after the resignation of Natalie he proves that he is a classy act. The ending is just fitting as he goes back to his normal way of life but this time with unhappiness and loneliness being the companions in his loaded backpack. The film is definitely worth a watch for the story is charmingly honest and fresh. Don’t be surprised to see a load of nominations at the academy awards this year, its worth it.
